The “Sal” in Sally Boy’s is our founder, Sal Basile – you may have heard his name before, but you might not be aware of just how much Sal has accomplished in the culinary world. In fact, Sal’s extensive background as a chef and TV personality is a big part of why we’re here today.

Sal’s life in the world of cooking began very early – in fact, he grew up in a family that was passionate about food. Given how much time he spent in the kitchen, Sal’s future career path was obvious. After setting out to become a professional chef, he quickly went on to become a rising star with his Manhattan pizzeria, Artichoke Basille’s, which has grown to become a beloved local NYC chain.

Along the way, Sal opened a number of other successful Italian restaurants, and became known to foodies across the world with his starring roles in two pizza-focused shows on the Cooking Channel. On Pizza Masters and Pizza Cuz, Sal can be seen traveling the USA with his cousin and fellow aficionado Francis Garcia, in search of the greatest pies that diverse cities across the country have to offer.

In other words, Sal knows his stuff! All of his experience making, and tasting, incredible Italian food has allowed Sal to craft a menu for Sally Boy’s that’s second to none.

Bringing Italy to Red Bank

One of Sal’s goals with Sally Boy’s was to offer an amazing menu that features not just signature pizzas, but also plenty of classic Italian-American appetizers and entrees and new twists on old favorites – in other words, something for everyone. Everything we serve up is made with the utmost care, starting with artisanal Italian ingredients, and our menu relies on Sal’s sense for Italian flavor to create unexpected and delicious combinations with an old-world heritage.

Take our Calabrian Sweet Heat pizza – featuring our house-made fresh mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce, it’s a celebration of the unique specialties of Calabria – the region that forms the “toe” of Italy’s boot. Hearty soppressata (a cured dry salami) and Calabrian chili peppers are complemented by a drizzle of sweet and spicy hot honey. Meanwhile, our “Salzone”, one of our house specialty monster calzones, turns eggplant parmigiana, an Italian comfort food staple, into a massive handheld delight. The Salzone is stuffed with fried eggplant, our house tomato sauce, and three Italian cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella, and Romano), and is topped off with shaved parmigiano and extra virgin olive oil. These are just two of the delicious choices Sal has designed!
